Monday 7/2.

It’s the last day of the Canada 3-day weekend (Canada was yesterday) and we see much more traffic heading south than north. This is good news. Fewer people mean more wilderness for us. Our determination to make progress was undaunted. So was our willingness to dawdle. Net result, we covered about 250 miles today. REALLY looking like moose country now and our expectations were high all day that we’d finally see one, but no luck. Nancy did however spot a black bear! We were speeding by and I missed it. We looked in vain for a place to turn around and finally decided to pull off and take the Cheap Jeep back to the spot where she’d seen the bear. The bear was gone, but we both think the Jeep was really happy to finally be unhooked from the RV and free to roam the back woods. We could imagine how excited a Jeep that was built in Indiana and sold in Long Beach must be to find itself off-roading in northern British Columbia. It’s the stuff Jeeps dream about. Ended the day early at Whiskers Point Provincial Park. Have a great site on the shores of Mcleod Lake. The park name is apropos. As always, I’m letting my beard grow. Typically, in the past, its still looking very scraggily when I have had to shave it off to return to work. On this trip I’ll have plenty of time to prove or disprove my hirsuitness. Tomorrow we’ll inflate the boat and do some wildlife scouting and fishing. Expect we’ll stay here for at least a couple of days.
