A Day Of Rest

Friday 7-27

In honor of Valdez’s annual New Wave Theater Day and our Santa Cruz roots Nancy and I mimed Banana Slugs today—moving v---e---r---y slowly around the Admiral and performing only the most essential tasks like sleeping and breathing.
Very late in the day we mustered the energy to take a short hike along Mineral Creek. We saw a bunch of predictably beautiful mountains—virtually every house in Valdez has a view of some of these mountains—a new yellow bird—and the Prettiest Waterfall Ever. We actually saw several pretty waterfalls, but passed a little girl with her father who told us she had just named the waterfall up the road, “The Prettiest Waterfall Ever”—works for us.
The problem with being a slug is that you move so slowly that you’re an easy target for the Pizza Monster. Please do not inform the PAA I have fallen off the wagon.
